World Faiths – God’s Pleasure

Know that the life of this world is only a sport and a pastime, and an adornment, and a source of boasting among yourselves, and of rivalry in multiplying riches and children. This life is like the rain the vegetation produced whereby rejoices the tillers. Then it dries up and thou seest it turn yellow; then it becomes broken pieces of straw. And in the Hereafter there is severe punishment, and also forgiveness from Allah, and His pleasure. And the life of this world is nothing but temporary enjoyment of deceitful things

ISLAM, THE HOLY QUR’AN, 57:21

The pleasure of the Lord lies in the pleasure of parents. The displeasure of the Lord lies in the displeasure of parents.

ISLAM, THE HOLY PROPHET(SA), HADITH OF JAMI’ AL-TIRMIDHI

The fact is that the pleasure of God Almighty, which is the cause of true happiness, cannot be attained until one bears temporary hardships. God cannot be deceived. Blessed are those who do not care for suffering sustained in order to acquire the pleasure of Allah. For the light of eternal bliss and everlasting comfort is granted to a believer after this temporary hardship.

ISLAM, THE PROMISED MESSIAH (AS), MALFUZAT – VOLUME I, P.73

All that God created in His world He created only for His glory, as it is said, ‘All that is called by my name, for my glory I created and fashioned and made it.’

JUDAISM, MISHNAH, ABOT 6.11

For us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist.

CHRISTIANITY, 1 CORINTHIANS 8.6, THE BIBLE

O Lord of all, hail unto Thee!
The Soul of all, causing all acts,
Enjoying all, all life art Thou!
Lord of all pleasure and delight!

HINDUISM, MAITRI UPANISHAD 5.1

Those who can hold to this scripture
Shall cause me and the emanations of my body,
As well as the Buddha Many Jewels, now passed into extinction,
All without exception to rejoice.
The Buddhas of the present in all ten quarters,
As well as those of past and future,
They shall both see and shower with offerings,
Enabling them, too, to gain joy.

BUDDHISM, DHAMMAPADA, 136
