Come to The Review of Religions’ exhibition 2018 this weekend taking place in the Jalsa Salana [The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s annual international convention] to see a live demonstration by Haji Noor Deens‘ mesmerising art of calligraphy.
In one part of our exhibition themed ‘Islam in the East: Journeys along the Silk Road‘ the visitors will also experience an artist’s talk and demonstration, followed by a hands-on calligraphy workshop. Travelling from China, renowned Master Calligrapher, Haji Noor Deen will be fusing Arabic and Chinese styles to produce truly unique works of art in an interactive session. Watch the dual forms of calligraphy come to life. Visitors will also get a unique opportunity to attend and to be educated from a joint calligraphy workshop by Haji Noor Deen and Razwan Baig, one of the foremost collectors of Islamic art in the UK and a calligrapher in his own right.
Haji Noor Deen from China, having studied and taught the art for over 30 years, showcasing his work across the world at institutions such as the British Museum, Harvard University Art Museum, Cambridge University, University of California-Berkley, Massachusetts Institute of Technology amongst others. His unique style unites Chinese and Arabic calligraphy, creating pieces of unique artistic beauty. He is currently developing his own gallery entitled “The Chinese House for the Arts of Islamic Calligraphy” and the “Arabic Calligraphy Creative Centre” at the National Academy of Painting and Calligraphy in the Henan Province, China.
